News: NAMTEC to help manufacturers discover the future of offshore oil and gas

By

An event takes place next month that will focus on the state of the Oil and Gas industry and the opportunities for manufacturers to develop their business with this potentially lucrative market.

Organised by the Special Metals Forum (SMF), the membership arm of Rotherham-based NAMTEC (the National Metals Technology Centre), the Discover the Future of Offshore Oil and Gas event will provide a forum for discussion of the issues affecting suppliers of engineered products, particularly special metals, to this sector, as well as giving attendees the opportunity to build relationships and collaborate with others from the industry.

High profile industry speakers include Gareth Roberts from Darron-SBO in Rotherham, a global provider of precision machine services and tools to the oil and gas industry, who will look at the challenges and opportunities in deep water drilling. Gareth has 30 years' experience in the Upstream Oil & Gas business, including working on offshore oil rigs across Europe, the Caribbean, Africa and Brazil.

Other speakers include Lance Whitehouse from Cameron, a global provider of pressure control, processing, flow control and compression systems for the Oil and Gas and processing industries; Anthony Onukwu from ITF - a not-for-profit organisation that facilitates collaborative research, development and the deployment of technology innovation in the Oil and Gas sector and; Richard Quin-Stanley from UK Trade and Investment will outline the global opportunities in oil and gas.

Alan Partridge, chief executive of NAMTEC said: "The seminar will provide a unique insight into the latest industry trends and developments within the Oil and Gas industry on a national and a global basis.

"There will also be the opportunity to share information and network with senior commercial, operational and technical decision-makers from within the gas and oil sector. For anyone wishing to grow their business in the offshore industry, this is an opportunity not to be missed."

The event takes place at Bretby Hotel and Conference Centre, Burton on Trent on November 18.
