News: ABS acquire Adwick Park unit

By

Rotherham metals processing and supply firm, ABS Group has bought Unit 1 at Adwick Park in Manvers.

The 83,425 sq ft unit enables the group to create a new operation to compliment their existing facilities at Kilnhurst.

ABS is a group of companies which began supplying primary and secondary alloys and metals, recycled packaging products, and distribution services.

The operations of the group have extended into other complimentary areas of industrial supply and the company have a big presence in the aerospace, chemical and medical sectors.

Their full analytical and processing facilities utilise the very latest technologies to effectively analyse and process high integrity complex alloy metal components.

Plans were approved in July to allow ABS to use the former distribution facility at Adwick Park for materials analysis and storage.

The plans are part of an expansion program that would see 40 people employed in Manvers and see the retention of the Kilnhurst facility.

The group employ over 150 employees and has an annual turnover in excess of £100m, of which 70% is in the international markets.

DTZ's industrial team in Leeds concluded the deal and ABS was represented by the Sheffield office of Knight Frank.

Mike Baugh, DTZ's head of Industrial and Logistics in Leeds, said: "This disposal represents a great result in a challenging market. We are talking to a good level of serious enquiries and are seeing activity slowly recover, however it is imperative that a robust and proactive marketing campaign is implemented to ensure success."
