By

Dearne Valley College (DVC) is hosting a business conference later this month at its Manvers campus in Rotherham.

The free conference is taking place on Friday June 21 and includes keynote speakers on the important issues of social media and business crime.

Social media expert, Svend Elkjaer (pictured right) has been confirmed for the event and will be delivering a talk regarding the latest social media tools and techniques for small to medium businesses.

Mr Elkjaer has worked in senior positions previously within large media organisations such Thomson Reuters and Express Newspapers, and is now the managing director of Sports Marketing Network which help sports and community organisations become vibrant, visible and viable in terms of their marketing campaigns and social media presence.

The Chief Executive of People United Against Crime (PUAC), David Ransom (pictured above), has also been confirmed to provide information about reducing the threats of crime to small and medium sized businesses.

The event, which is open to all businesses in the south of Yorkshire, is taking place between 11am-3.30pm and Mr Ransom's presentation will address issues at the forefront of the business crime topic, as well as an overview of how businesses can make the most of the free services available from the Business Crime Reduction Centre (BCRC). BCRC is an initiative which offers independent security advice to small and medium sized enterprises in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Guests will also have the opportunity to network with fellow business representatives, and the College's Business Development team will also be on hand to discuss opportunities such as business training and Apprenticeships, with a free buffet lunch for all attendees.
