News: £50m funding for Powerstar products

By

£50m of carbon reduction funding has been made available for EMSc (UK) Ltd, designers and manufacturers of Powerstar voltage optimisation, to support public and private sector companies wishing to invest in implementing specific energy saving technologies.

Award-winning EMSc (UK) Ltd developed a unique triple wound voltage optimisation system with a patented design that actively reduces a considerable percentage of a building's electrical energy consumption.

The innovative firm has recently expanded from premises in Rotherham to a 23,620 sq ft unit in Sheffield comprising the head office, manufacturing space and R&D facilities. The company outgrew its premises at Templeborough and relocated to St Paul's Developments' Smithy Wood Business Park.

The funds will be provided interest free for up to five years, making it an attractive investment package for companies keen on reducing their impact on the environment and cutting energy consumption and costs.

Voltage optimisation has been identified as one of the top three technologies that organisations and companies can invest in and works by reducing the the voltage supplied by the National Grid. Powerstar delivers average savings of 12% to 15% and payback periods of three to five years.

Dr. Alex Mardapittas, managing director of EMSc (UK) Ltd, said: "The funding will allow public and private sector companies across the UK to become more energy efficient and save money at the same time. The £50m available will ensure that projects with a payback period of less than five years become cash positive from day one. We are looking forward to working with them to help them maximise their energy savings.

"We are also very proud that our award winning Powerstar range of products has been recognised, by these very influential reports, as one of the top three energy saving technologies available. EMSc (UK) Ltd is committed to helping UK companies achieve sustainability targets and this funding will give many organisations the opportunity and the means to do so."
