News: Capita to create hundreds of new jobs in Rotherham

By

Capita, the UK's leading outsourcing company, has announced that over 500 jobs in its Dearne Valley and Leeds call centres will be created over the coming months, providing employment opportunities for residents in the surrounding areas.

The vacancies, which are currently open for application, have been created in Capita's customer services business, through its contracts with large high-street brands including telecoms, retail and utility firms. Capita operates a number of contracts including British Gas, Debenhams, Department for Work and Pensions, Severn Trent Water and National Trust.

There are no minimum qualifications required for candidates, instead Capita is looking for enthusiastic individuals who possess great personality, with ideal candidates having had previous customer service experience.

The contact centre operation in Manvers began life after Ventura signed a customer service contract to support the launch of BTCellnet into the consumer mobile phone market in 1992. Starting with 40 staff it went on to grow to a capacity for 2,000. Capita purchased Ventura and the Rotherham site in 2011 as part of a £65m deal.

Full and part-time vacancies are available and successful candidates will receive competitive pay and can look forward to a number of benefits including discounts at various outlets, access to an on-site gym in Dearne Valley and Capita group benefits such as childcare vouchers.

Capita said that it is committed to investing in individuals and communities therefore career progression opportunities are also offered within these roles to help develop the individual and their future prospects.

Earlier this year, a report in a national newspaper created speculation that customer service work on behalf O2 in the Dearne Valley could be outsourced. It followed from the announcement that Capita had been selected by leading communications company Telefónica UK (O2) as their preferred bidder to form a ten year strategic partnership for customer management services. The deal, worth approximately £1.2 billion began in July.
