News: More recognition for AESSEAL's pursuit of excellence

By

Leading Rotherham manufacturer, AESSEAL has been named as a winner at the recent North of England Excellence Awards 2013.

With their global headquarters at Templeborough, AESSEAL manufactures mechanical seals, which are environmental containment products used on all types of rotating equipment in process industries. Currently the fourth largest seal manufacturer in the world, its aim is to be number one.

Established in 1995 the North of England Excellence Awards recognise organisations that achieve and maintain superior levels of performance. Working in partnership with the British Quality Foundation (BQF) and the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), the not for profit company helps organisations achieve their strategic vision and enhance business performance by inspiring, supporting and recognising excellence.

AESSEAL won the Special Award for Sustainability at the prestigious awards. Assessors said that sustainability was embedded in the firm's culture, with electricity sourced from 100% renewable sources and a culture of efficiency amongst employees designed to reduce energy wastage.

David Teale, chief executive of North of England Excellence, said: “The 2013 awards have once again revealed some outstanding examples of best practice in business. These are organisations which are pursuing world-class levels of performance. No doubt they will use the feedback from assessors which they have gained from taking part in the awards to raise their game even higher."

All aspects of the business are committed to excellence, indeed, AESSEAL's business plan states that "the company is completely committed to the pursuit of excellence as the only way to grow market share."

At the highest level, the company follows the EFQM Excellence Model as a means of gap identification, and to accelerate learning, innovation and improvement. In 2009 following only the company's second external assessment, AESSEAL was awarded the coveted UK Excellence Award.

Previous award wins include the Queen's Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development in 2009. AESSEAL was named the overall winning company for the 2011 Manufacturing Excellence Awards and is now a partner in the awards.

AESSEAL's "Excellence Programme" which involves benchmarking standards, monitoring progress and shaping new initiatives, helped sales grow from £31m to £124m over a ten year period.
