News: Sheffield city region showcase at MIPIM 2014

By

Sheffield city region's business led delegation is gearing up to showcase the key investment opportunities across the region to the 20,000 exhibitors, delegates and journalists at MIPIM 2014 - the 25th anniversary of the world's premier real estate event.

Held annually in Cannes, MIPIM is the world's property market and brings together the most influential players from all international property sectors - office, residential, retail, healthcare, sport, logistics and industrial.

Counter Context, a Sheffield based communications company, has been working with the Local Enterprise Partnership, the local authorities and the business community to maximise this opportunity.

Simon Collingwood, director at Counter Context, the agency leading the project management and communication strategy, said: "MIPIM is the perfect moment to engage with international investors in a conversation about the competitive advantages of the Sheffield City Region. It is right that the public sector get behind this, but also critical that our businesses lead the charge. There is still time to get involved in this important initiative."

The Sheffield City Region programme of events at MIPIM will focus on key sector specialisms, such as logistics and advanced manufacturing, as well as promoting the City Region’s key developments. Amongst others, this includes the transformative Gateway to the Sheffield City Region project – connecting the motorway network with Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport, the Enterprise Zones, and Sheffield City Centre Masterplan.

James Newman, chair of the Local Enterprise Partnership, said: "Our message at MIPIM is straightforward: we have a series of world class clusters, facilities and opportunities across the City Region that are of interest to the international investment community. These opportunities are underpinned by excellent national and international connectivity; the land availability to support growth; a first class skills pipeline; and a public sector that is open for business."

Businesses from across the region have got behind the initiative to support this exhibition to the global investment community. Partner organisations so far include: Harworth Estates, Sheffield Business Park/Peel Logistics, HLM Architects, Coda Studios, Irwin Mitchell, Bond Bryan, Nabarro LLP, Rider Levett Bucknall and the University of Sheffield.
