News: Pyronix plans expansion at Rotherham HQ

By

Security experts, Pyronix, has submitted plans to expand its Rotherham facility in order to meet future demands.

Based at Hellaby, the award-winning firm, which is a world leader in the manufacture of security equipment including control panels, detectors and external sounds, has grown 15% every year since 2010 and is now on course to reach £20m of annual sales by the end of 2014, 50% of which is in international markets.

In recent years, Pyronix has managed its growth by bringing back production from China to Yorkshire and, currently, about 60% of manufacturing takes place here in Rotherham.

Dependant on levels of production activity during the year, Pyronix employs between 105 and 125 staff at the Hellaby site in the manufacture, sales, production and distribution of high quality security alarms. Some of the components for these are made in China and are imported directly to the Hellaby warehouse. A need for additional space for assembly and fabrication has been identified to meet future demands.

The plans, drawn up by Woodcote Design, are for a 1,355 sq m extension, providing a clean, modern space for electronics manufacturing as well as improving and extending existing office, product testing and Research & Development facilities. It is also expected to improve visitor facilities and experience with better technical support, workshops and on-site training facilities.

Last year the company added eight new people to its workforce and the plans state that: "The proposals, if implemented, will facilitate improvement in the development, production, storage, distribution and support of the company's manufactured security systems. In doing so, they will also help secure and extend employment on the site with particular emphasis on opportunities for R&D and technical staff as well as additional warehousing staff."
