News: Focus NDT acquired by MISTRAS Group

Rotherham-based Focus NDT, a recognised leader in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and inspection activities, has been acquired by the US-based MISTRAS Group.

With a head office and testing facility at Templeborough, Focus NDT was established in 1993 and has a strong presence in Aberdeen and the Netherlands. It is led by managing director, David Ackernley.

Non-destructive testing is the branch of engineering concerned with all methods of detecting and evaluating flaws in materials. Experts in wrought products, castings and welds, the company performed non-destructive testing and inspection activities for industries across a comprehensive range of sectors including oil and gas, defence, precision engineering and aerospace.

Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, MISTRAS is headquartered in New Jersey and is a leading global provider of technology-enabled asset protection solutions used to evaluate the structural integrity of critical energy, industrial and public infrastructure. It has over 5,000 employees made up of highly skilled and certified technicians and degreed engineers operating in over 100 offices worldwide.

Matt Ainsworth at Irwin Mitchell in Sheffield, and James Hillman advised Focus NDT on the deal. Corporate finance advice was provided by Brendan Farrell of Premier Corporate Finance. Hawsons Accountants provided financial and tax advice.
