The Advanced Manufacturing Park Technology Centre has been successful at the inaugural Yorkshire Post Environmental Awards.
The zero-carbon project won the built environment projects over £1m category, sponsored by accountants Grant Thornton.
Other shortlisted nominees included; Brompton Lakes, a development of 10 lodge-style holiday homes on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, and the York Eco Centre, for environmentally friendly business start-ups.
The winners were announced at an Awards Dinner held at the Queens Hotel, Leeds on May 7th.
The building is to be powered by Europe's largest capacity hydrogen mini-grid system and includes other features such as ground source heat pumps and grey water recapture systems.
Yorkshire Post editor Peter Charlton told the paper: "I hope it will become an annual fixture in the region's calendar, and I have been absolutely delighted by the response of companies and individuals who have submitted entries. What has become apparent is how seriously business in our region takes environmental issues."AMP Technology website
