Rotherham Ready has successfully launched their "Young Entrepreneur's Club" scheme, bringing together local primary schools and Rotherham businesses to help mentor students and develop their enterprise skills, and is now offering pupils involved a unique chance to demonstrate their newly learned approaches.
The project, which receives funding from the Working Neighbourhoods Fund, started the initiative in 2009, building on the success of the previously run "Make £5 Blossom" programme, which saw primary schools and local businesses partner up to help youngsters create profit from £5.
Young Entrepreneur's Clubs help youngsters build up important entrepreneurial values including teamwork, creativity, financial literacy and negotiation abilities.
Business mentors involved work with primary pupils to devise and deliver enterprising activities, incorporating their entrepreneurial know how and sharing their priceless expertise at club meetings held regularly within their partner school.
Staff, students and business mentors are invited to present their novel ideas and plans formed through the project, at an inspiring networking event, where former star BBC Apprentice finalist, Claire Young, will be delivering a key note speech and individuals will have the opportunity to chat with others taking part and learn more about enterprise.
Jackie Frost, Rotherham Ready Project Manager, said: "We are thrilled that our Young Entrepreneur's Club scheme has been so effective in helping our younger generation develop such important skills, which will open up a whole new world to them when they eventually progress from education.
"This event will bring together all the hardworking, enthusiastic characters involved in the project so far, giving them the chance to illustrate their own concepts and ones learnt, which will be a proud moment for both mentors, teachers and youngsters themselves."
