News: Very Delicious Cheesecakes get a Twitter boost from Theo

Very Delicious Cheesecakes, the Rotherham based company, has been promoted on twitter by Dragon Den's star Theo Paphitis, leading to a 17 fold increase in website hits.

It was part of Small Business Sunday, shortened to the hashtag #SBS on Twitter, that was created by Theo Paphitis in October 2010. Theo is best known for his star role in TV's Dragons' Den and is chairman of Ryman Stationery and Boux Avenue lingerie.

Last month, enterprising Fiona Silvester from Very Delicious Cheesecakes tweeted Theo about her business and impressed him so much that she was chosen as one of just six winners.

Theo re‐tweeted Fiona's message to his 280,000 followers and as a result, the business has 200 more followers and extra orders for their cheesecakes. They have also joined fellow winners who are profiled on Theo's website.

Fiona said: "We've only been in business a year and we're working hard to raise our profile. It is great that Theo has recognised our hard work and helped spread the word about what we do to his followers. We saw 17 times more traffic to our website and it raised our profile nationally."

Fiona won Rotherham's own version of Dragon's Den in 2010 with her plans for her buffet company, Alexandra's. Both the buffets and cheesecakes were successfully tested at her café in Parkgate.

Last year, Very Delicious secured two of the coveted one-star Gold Great Taste Awards - one for its White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake and one for its Gluten Free Almond and Orange cake.

Very Delicious Cheesecakes is based at Rotherham Youth Enterprise's units in Treeton. They follow online retailer, KyNa Boutique, another RYE-supported company, who were recognised earlier this year by Jacqueline Gold, CEO of Ann Summers, as part of her Women on Wednesday twitter initiative.
