News: Solid World Cup season for Bromley Technologies
Britain's Shelley Rudman continued her impressive form by winning bronze at the Skeleton European Championships at the final event of the FIBT World Cup series.
The event in Igls, Austria also doubled up as the 2010 European Championships and meant that Rudman ended a very successful world cup campaign with a 4th place to secure her the silver medal in the overall series, her 2nd consecutive series silver medal.
Her partner, Kristan Bromley raced to a 8th place at Iglis to secure a top six world cup final standing. Bromley finishes the top British male athlete in Skeleton for the 13th successive year.
Both are supported by Bromley Technologies' Formula Ice programme that gives ice sport athletes technical support and equipment developed through its research and development programme.
From their base at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham, the Bromley team has more than 50 years' combined experience in elite winter sport, aerospace technology, Formula One engineering and design with its equipment supporting athletes to win over 40 world-class medals, including Olympic Bronze and Silver.
The programme is focused on achieving the ultimate prize at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in three weeks time. After the race Rudman said: "I am really pleased with my season and have held great form since November. I could not ask for more coming into the Olympics. I would like to thank Richard Bromley for his unwavering support through all the eight races. And of course the Bromley Formula Ice technology team who have painstakingly worked to give me one of the fastest sleds in the world. However we have one race left and we need to stay focused."
Bromley added: "This season has been all about positioning ourselves for Vancouver. I would like to thank everyone supporting the Bromley Formula Ice programme. Without the generous support and enthusiasm from our sponsors and supporters, both myself and Shelley would not be in this strong position.
"The recession has affected every single business in the UK to unprecedented levels and to receive support from businesses and industry during these difficult times emphasises the resolve, generosity and energy we have in the UK towards sport and athletes' quests to be the best."
The British Olympic Association are set to name the athletes to represent Team GB in the skeleton at the Olympics on January 29.
