News: Pressure Technologies acquires Al-Met Ltd

By

Sheffield-based Pressure Technologies has acquired Al-Met Ltd, a subsidiary of the ABS Industrial Resources Group in Rotherham, in a deal worth up to £2.25m.

Al-Met is an engineering company which specialises in sourcing and machining tungsten carbide and high grade stainless steels and superalloys. They manufacture specialised, precision engineered valve wear parts used in the oil and gas industries.

The business is well invested with a quality range of CNC turning, milling and grinding equipment. It is based at a single production site in Pontyclun, near Cardiff, and employs 29 staff, including 20 highly-trained machinists.

John Hayward, Chief Executive of Pressure Technologies, said: "Al-Met is an established, well invested, niche business, operating in a sector we know and understand. The highly skilled workforce and the focus on design and quality fit well culturally with our other businesses.

"This is an exciting acquisition for the Group as there is a clear opportunity to grow the business organically by expanding both the customer base and the product portfolio."

Pressure Technologies has been a leader in the design and manufacture of high pressure seamless steel gas cylinders for over 100 years. It is the holding company for Chesterfield Special Cylinders and Chesterfield BioGas.

Based at Kilnhurst, Rotherham, ABS Industrial Resources Ltd is a group of companies which began supplying primary and secondary alloys and metals, recycled packaging products, and distribution services.

In the following years the operations of the group have extended into other complimentary areas of industrial supply namely powder metallurgy, forging and casting ingot, and most recently into oil industry component and high density tungsten alloy manufacture, metal ore mining and precious metal supply.
