News: Graduates given a RISE at Eadon Consulting

By

Rotherham engineering design consultancy, Eadon Consulting continues to expand, taking on two new graduates.

The company works across a number of sectors, with expertise in mechanical, control, hydraulic and structural design and has has moved office four times in six years within the AMP Technology Centre on The Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) due to the growing nature of the business.Mark Stewart joins Eadon Consulting through RISE as a graduate design draughtsman after graduating from Sheffield Hallam University with a BSc in Product Design. A sandwich course, which gave Mark the opportunity to gain practical experience as well as academic merit, saw him receive a placement working for Reckitt Benckiser, New Technology Group.

Working for a well-known industry brand Mark's role was to study, research and analyse products produced by alternate companies and produce visual prototypes using Solidworks 3D CAD packages. This role also provided Mark with the opportunity to enhance his skill set further in areas such as concept and product development.

With plans for Mark to initially start work on rendered images for Eadon's widely recognised Lower Hatea Bridge project, he will be quickly given the chance to put his previous experience into practice.

RISE is an initiative between Sheffield City Council, Sheffield Hallam University and University of Sheffield that connects businesses with graduates. It was set up in response to SME feedback in the city around recruiting graduates, which highlighted issues such as not having a training framework for a graduate employee and assessment centre style recruitment processes to find the "right" candidate being too expensive and graduate concerns around employment opportunities.

Also starting at Eadon Consulting is Andrew Bilsborrow, a graduate engineer who recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University. Whilst studying, Andrew completed placement work at Roll Royce as a product definition engineer. During this time he worked on several projects including the development of Trent 900 and XWB engines.

Prior to his time at university he worked as a technical sales manager for RFA Tech where he co-ordinated the manufacture and delivery of various steel reinforcements for numerous projects including the Millharbour project, Canary Wharf, London and also the BBC Media City project in Salford. Andrew has also spent time working as a production assistant for Avian Hang Gliders. He will initially be using his skills on quotations for up and coming Eadon projects.
