News: RNN Group in new working partnership

By

RNN Group, the education and training provider which includes Rotherham and North Notts Colleges, is becoming a fixture at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough stadium as a new venture kicks off for young people wanting to study a Level 3 business qualification.

The initiative is supported by two well-known businesses, Plusnet and Waitrose, and is part of an ongoing and extremely successful partnership that Rotherham College has developed with Sheffield Wednesday Football Club by providing sport programmes delivered at Hillsborough.

The new partnership will support the delivery of Level 3 Business courses for the two famous brands at Hillsborough – where students will be based in the modern and well equipped study centre, boasting a range of computers, research materials and reflection space which should see them developing their skills and knowledge.

An open event will be held at Hillsborough Stadium on Thursday April 20 starting at 6pm where young people can find out more about this exciting and unique opportunity. There are limited places are available – so those interested will need to act fast.

The Business, Innovation and Enterprise Academies, supported by Plusnet and Waitrose will allow students to study a Level 3 BTEC in Business, as well as gain valuable work experience in various functions of the businesses.

Ken Merry, head of business and enterprise at the RNN Group said: "This is a brilliant opportunity for young people in Sheffield to work with three strong brands, supported by the RNN Group. With the range of work experience opportunities available within both Plusnet and Waitrose this is clearly an opportunity for them to carve out a career that really suits them."

Spencer Taylor, education manager for Sheffield Wednesday, added: "I'm delighted to be part of this exciting project and I can see this really offering local people an opportunity to develop their skills and to become more employable at the end of their course."

Andy Baker CEO of Plusnet, added: "This is a fantastic opportunity for us to develop home-grown talent and skills. It's vital we provide young people with the opportunity and training to achieve their dreams. We can't wait to start working with our partners and students on this course."
