The Sheffield Hallam University reports on the success of their Shell Step programme and design student Nathan Bestwick's placement at Advanced Sewer Products in Rotherham. Nathan made such an impression by developing a new patented technology during his placement he has now been offered a full-time job with the company as product designer. He has continued to work on a part-time basis with the company during his final year at University and has already developed a number of new products for them, including the latest version of the Camstopper, the world’s fastest and safest mechanical pipeline plug, and a revolutionary new drain rod for the civil engineering industry. ASP's managing director, Mike Flanagan told SHU: "Nathan has continued his excellent work for us on a range of product design projects. By integrating his work into a small company this not only gives Nathan responsibility for producing design solutions, but also exposes him to the raw commercial aspects of manufacture, and commercial acceptance."
