
Rotherham-based Cutting & Wear Resistant Developments Ltd has announced that Xi'an Shang Tai Mechanical Manufacturing Co Ltd has become the first company in China to become a Quick Tip licensee. QuickTip is a high quality hardfacing system for downhole tools. The system couples tungsten carbide inserts with an innovative application process patented by Cutting & Wear. The process is designed to extend the life of tools, thereby reducing costs and improving productivity. Xi'an Shang Tai is part of Xi'an Aero-Engine (Group) Ltd and is based in Xi'an Shaanxi Province. The group employs more than 10,000 people and is the single Rolls-Royce source worldwide for the casting, forging and machining of some components for Rolls-Royce engines. C&W's Brett Russell will be travelling to China in the New Year to train Xi'an's Quick Tip operators. Xi'an Shang Tai joins QuickTip licenses based in the Middle East, Far East, USA, UK, UAE, Australia, Norway, Argentina, Russia and Germany.
