News: Mixed use development proposed for Laycast site
An outline planning application has been submitted for a large mixed-use development on the site of the former Laycast foundry at Woodhouse Mill in Rotherham, on the border with Sheffield.
Local company JF Finnegan established a new joint venture with US based Borden Companies to redevelop the site.
Drawn up by another local firm, Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson on behalf the Pegasus Planning Group of Leeds, the plans propose 18,212 sq m (196,000 sq ft) of space for industrial and distribution use, 3,484 sq m (37,500 sq ft) of office space, and a 464 sq m (5,000 sq ft) hotel with a pub restaurant.
The number of jobs it may create is not yet known and neither are any potential occupiers.
The development will also include removing 44,000 tonnes of coal and capping part of the old Fence colliery.
