News: Rotherham Enterprise in the community
Local business coaches from the Rotherham Enterprise project are helping aspiring and current business owners across the borough.
The coaches are able to offer free advice and can help people to develop their ideas and mentor them through the first steps of setting up a company or give them the direction they need to grow their business.
Geoff Link, from Rotherham Enterprise said: "It's important for us to support our local communities by encouraging individuals who want to take that leap into the business world, and in turn develop an enterprising culture across the region.
"Whether it is help about self employment, starting an enterprise from scratch, or even keeping existing businesses going, our coaches and support officers can offer free confidential advice through the project, which is funded by European Regional Development Fund."
Julia Millea, a business coach covering the north of the town said: "I've been self employed so I know that it can be quite daunting knowing what to do next. But it's about giving people confidence and chatting about any ideas worth exploring and looking toward the next step.
"The advice I give varies, from helping people define what they need to research for their market, to just looking at the viability of the concept they have envisioned. More than anything though, I like the sense of community and belonging that this scheme gives people."
Julia is based at Rawmarsh Highstreet Centre. She is available for coaching on:
Mondays – Monkwood Surestart Centre, 1pm – 3pm
Wednesdays - Wath local Library, 11am - 2pm
Fridays – Swinton local Library, 1pm – 3pm
Plus on the first Monday of each month drop in session at the Tenants Hall in Kimberworth Park 10am – 12pm.
