News: Macalloy tie rods support Dubai Sports City Academy

Rotherham-based Macalloy have supplied tie rods for a prestigious football academy at a $4bn mixed-used sports city in Dubai.

Based in Dinnington, Macalloy are world leaders in design, manufacture and supply of threaded bar and cable systems to engineering and construction projects across the globe.

Set on 50m sq ft within the Dubailand development, Dubai Sports City combines state of the art sports stadia, venues and academies with major residential and commercial developments and all the related amenities expected in a purpose-built city.

Macalloy supplied their 460 M76 tie rods to form several supporting trusses across 24 metre glulam beams at the city's football academy that is currently under construction. The project is expected to be complete in 2011 and is purpose-built to house a Manchester United Soccer School.

Macalloy's expertise in securing contracts for sports developments across the globe has been recognised by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI).

Stadium projects that have utilised Macalloy systems include the main venue for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the City of Manchester Stadium; the Olympia Stadion in Berlin, that hosted six games at the 2006 World Cup; the Khalifa Stadium in Doha and the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, currently under construction in Australia.
