News: Nuclear AMRC plans on show

The Nuclear AMRC will provide a focal point for the bulk of the UK civil nuclear manufacturing industry supply chain, ensuring that manufacturers in the UK have the capability and capacity required to compete for nuclear new build in the UK and globally, from skills training to research and development.
It is a joint initiative between industry, the University of Sheffield, and the University of Manchester. It will be based in a new purpose-built facility with state of the art equipment at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham.
Building on the model developed by the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing, the centre will employ around 75 researchers who will focus on the machining, fabrication and the assembly of components for new nuclear power stations.

The building is set to cost around £10m and it is anticipated that a planning application will be submitted in early May 2010 with work starting on site in November 2010.
The AMRC team, architects and civil engineers will present and discuss the plans from 10:30 on April 29 at the AMRC the Factory of the Future.
