News: Kick start for Moorhead Savage expansion

By

Rotherham insolvency practitioners Moorhead Savage are marking their first anniversary with a major expansion.

With the support of a Kick Start loan from the Rotherham Investment and Development Office (RiDO), the enterprise is taking on new members of staff to deal with the sharp increase in enquiries from both companies and members of the public.

Based at RiDO's Moorgate Crofts business centre, the company is now working with clients throughout the region. It is headed by Paul Moorhead, the only licensed insolvency practitioner in the UK with a PhD in insolvency law.

Paul said: "This is our first anniversary and we have seen a rapid increase in enquiries about dealing with cash flow and debt problems.

"The financial down turn continues so we are seeing many more businesses calling than ever before but the good thing is that we are here to help people find effective solutions to their financial problems.

"We look at what the options are in dealing with financial difficulties and then try to find a way forward.

"The great thing about this job is that people come to you expecting the worst but it doesn't have to be that way at all."

With the extra support of the RiDO Kick Start loan, Moorhead Savage is now taking on two extra members of staff.

"The loan means that we have been able to implement our expansion plans much sooner than we had anticipated," said Paul.

"We will now be able to provide an even better service to our clients, ensuring that we can help even more people navigate their way through the current economic storm."

The Kick Start scheme is available for Rotherham-based companies and provides small loans up to a maximum of £5,000 at a low fixed interest rate.

To be eligible for the scheme a business must have been trading for at least six months.

Corus subsidiary, UK Steel Enterprise established local Kickstart Funds to assist small businesses in the areas affected, such as Rotherham and Stocksbridge, working in partnership with local organisations including RiDO, SEntA, STEP and the Universities.
