News: 3,000 sign up to Rotherham Shop Local scheme
Leader of the Council Cllr Roger Stone said: "The take-up for the Shop Local loyalty card scheme is fantastic and proves there are people committed to shopping in Rotherham town centre. Businesses should be proud of the result they've had by working together and with us – it's great for them and it's great for the town."
The Council's Business and Retail Investment Team, charged with delivering the initiative, will be contacting businesses not joined up yet to see if they can come on board to offer loyal shoppers even more incentive to shop local. The team would ideally like 100 businesses on board.
People can register online at http://www.rotherhamtowncentre.co.uk/ or pop in to the Visitor Centre in All Saints' Square, or a participating town centre store, to register for a card.

I applied for one of those cards and I haven't pledged anything. Why say that 3000 people have made some sort of commitment to shop in Rotherham? I honestly believe that the self-deception here is incredible.
3000 people have joined a scheme to save money when shopping in Rotherham. They haven't pledged to do anything.
I take your point Anonymous but I didn't use the word "pledge" in the headline in an attempt to deceive anyone, let alone myself.
It was more a play on the name of the scheme and I understand that by signing up, we aren't committed to using it
I'll change it to avoid anymore self-deception.
Cheers,
Tom
ps. The Yorkshire Post reports today that 5,000 people have signed up to the scheme.
