News: igloo invests in Eye

By

Igloo Regeneration Ltd has taken a "significant equity stake" in Rotherham-based regeneration consultants, Eye.

Based in RiDO's Moorgate Crofts business centre, Eye provide development and asset management services to help see regeneration projects through from concept to completion.

Igloo Regeneration Ltd provides services to the igloo Regeneration Fund, a partnership of pension, life and charity funds managed by Aviva Investors, which invests in sustainable urban regeneration across the UK.

Igloo's John Tatham and Nick Ebbs will become non-executive directors of Eye and Eye will be able to access the wealth and experience of the igloo team. In return, igloo will access Eye's experience in the housing sector.

Jon Sawyer, a development consultant, and Joanne Sawyer, then Rotherham Council's head of implementation, established Eye after working successfully on the award-winning All Saints' Quarter project in Rotherham town centre.

One of the first and biggest projects in the Rotherham Renaissance programme, the first phase of the £37m All Saints' Quarter is now complete and consists of the restored Imperial Buildings, Old Market and, Keppel Wharf.

Building on this, Eye is developing a strong track record in turning around challenging housing estates and helped Rotherham Council with its regeneration plans for Canklow, Dalton and East Herringthorpe.

Commenting on the deal, Jon Sawyer said: "Eye is very excited that igloo Regeneration, development managers to the igloo Regeneration Fund and one of our clients, has chosen to invest in our company.

"Eye and igloo share the same philosophy about wanting not only to deliver great projects but also to create great places."
