News: Millers announce Puma partnership

By

Rotherham United has announced a new four-deal deal for genesissports to supply new Puma kits to the club from next season.

The deal will see the Millers' strip for next season featuring the famous Puma formstripe logo. The two stripes on the new shirt are inspired by a famous story involving Johan Cruyff, in which during the 1974 World Cup Final, he removed the third stripe from his supplied Netherlands shirt, out of respect and loyalty to his boot sponsor - Puma.

Steve Coakley, the club's commercial director said: "We are thrilled to announce the association with PUMA, who are one of the world leaders in sports merchandise.

"From previous experience of working with Puma I know they will bring an expertise and professionalism which will lead to a long and productive partnership, this will be invaluable as we move into the new stadium and develop our retail operation. I believe this is another example of the progress we are making as a club.

"Puma have associations with some of the leading clubs in world sport and to now add the name of Rotherham United to their portfolio speaks volumes about the direction we're heading."

Parkgate Shopping will remain the main shirt sponsor of the new Puma shirt, whilst fellow club partner Perrys will continue to sponsor the back. Details and designs of new away kit and sponsor are to be revealed in May.

The League Two club has also announced that matchday hospitality and matchday sponsorship packages have now sold out for the reminder of the 2010/2011 season.

Steve Coakley added: "With the new stadium very much on the horizon it is so encouraging to able to speak of an ever increasing number of business relationships we are continuing to develop. We are all looking forward to the new stadium so much and to take everything at the Club on to another level."
