News: F1 Showcars on track for success

By

F1 Showcars in Rotherham is continuing to lead the field after receiving support from from Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO) and the Rotherham Youth Enterprise project (RYE).

The company was set up in 2009 to supply full sized Formula One simulator cars and display cars for hire at events. Enterprising owner Adam Tinsley, invested in an Arrows F1 simulator when the company went into administration, and adapted this for public use.

The simulator has been up and down the country and was a popular attraction at the "Get Up to Speed with Engineering" event at last month's Global Manufacturing Festival and at last year's Rotherham Show. The company has also showcased the simulator and other F1 memorabilia at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and they will be at the Silverstone round of the Moto GP in June.

The company also feature a full size F1 showcar replica, a MotoGp motorbike simulator and a wheel change game, where guests can attempt to emulate the lightning fast pit stops seen in Formula One.

Adam said: "We have done many different events with the simulator and a TV advert for Tesco with our display car. We have just launched our Motorsport simulator experience in Rotherham so people can come to us! The experience sold over 600 places in its first 24 hours."

The company was helped from the outset by intensive start-up support from Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO) and the Rotherham Youth Enterprise project (RYE).

After launching F1 Showcars, RYE supported Adam in securing him exhibition space at Rotherham Show and at the Council's own "Meet the Business" networking event which linked him in with contacts in the local authority and schools sector. RiDO have also worked with Adam to raise the company’s profile and secured their attendance at the "Get Up to Speed" event.

The drivers of the fastest laps at the "Get Up to Speed" event were awarded prizes, kindly donated by Marussia Virgin Racing, Rotherham's own Formula One team, based at Dinnington, who also exhibited their F1 racing car at the event.
