News: Superstar Me has all the right moves
Young entrepreneur, Jenni Shannon set up Superstar Me Dancewear Ltd eight months ago and it has been going from strength to strength. Her shop on the High Street in Maltby has attracted dancers from right across South Yorkshire.
She said: "Having danced since I was two, I've had my fair share of dance shoes and outfits and felt that there wasn't a one stop shop for dancers to buy all the desired equipment and accessories to ensure they look their best - be it for shows, competitions or just for a hobby."
"I set up Superstar Me Dancewear with the aim of supplying top quality dancewear at an affordable price for all shapes, sizes and ages."
Jenni received a start up business grant of £500 from UK Steel Enterprise with support from The Rotherham Enterprise Project, which is part financed by The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), who also support her now with the running of the business with handy tips and guidance in going forward.
Having had a career in marketing, Jenni used the grant on advertising to spread the word about the shop and its starting to have the desired effect.
She said: "When I approached the Rotherham Enterprise Project I was assigned my own business coach, I was lucky enough to have Darren McDool. He was extremely supportive, helped me see the wood from the trees and now I love being my own boss!"
Darren said: "Jenni is a great inspiration, she took a dream and turned it into reality to provide Rotherham residents with high quality Dancewear. She has the makings of being an entrepreneurial success and a role model to others wanting to take the leap into starting up a company."
