News: Vitalife secures deal with Holland and Barrett

By

Rotherham company, Vitalife has secured a deal with the UK's leading retailer of vitamins, minerals and herbal supplements that will see their healthy matcha green tea range added to Holland and Barrett's online store.

Local young entrepreneur Gavin Edley, a big fan of exercise and fitness, saw the benefits of the tea after experiencing an increased mental stimulation and a sense of relaxation and calm in his workouts and in everyday life. When he drank matcha, he felt more "complete" and focused in general.

Realising the massive physiological benefits of drinking matcha, and knowing how popular the drink already is in Japan and North America, he set out to introduce the "matcha experience" to the UK and the rest of Europe.

He launched Vitalife in 2010 and the business has been growing since. On the deal with NBTY, Holland and Barrett's parent company, Gavin said: "If the online launch is successful, there is a strong possibility of making our matcha green tea available in Holland and Barrett stores too.

"We also have a great new range of Vitalife teas launching in a few weeks – eight of, in fact – which will all focus on particular health benefits. So we're hoping the matcha will be a success here so that we can try to use this same route to market for our new teas.

"Aswell as looking for more retailers to help sell our teas, we also have plans to develop a range of trail mixes, cereals, cereal bars and other super-healthy products under the Vitalife brand."
