News: Another acquisition for AESSEAL

Award-winning Rotherham manufacturing firm, AESSEAL continues its expansion, with a new UK acquisition.

AES Engineering Ltd's AESPUMP Ltd, a market leader in the management of pump assets for the process industries, has bought pump repairer and supplier Absolute Vacuum for an undisclosed sum.

The latest addition is seen as a natural fit with Bedford-based AESPUMP, whose nationwide service centres will now include Absolute Vacuum, based near Brighton.

With global headquarters at Templeborough, AESSEAL is the world's fourth largest mechanical seal business. They specialise in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals, bearing protectors and environmental control systems for process equipment, maximising reliability and protecting the environment from leakage.

AES acquired Bedford-based competitor, Ceetak Engineering Group in 2010 and rebranded the division as AESPUMP. They specialise in the total management and support of pumps and other rotating equipment installed on applications ranging from the chemical and pharmaceutical industries to food and waste management.

Absolute Vacuum was created in 1999 by managing director Andy Taylor, who said: "Joining the AES organisation gives us an exciting proposition for our customers. AESPUMP has a reputation for high levels of quality and support and we have developed our business through providing our customers with exceptional service."

AESPUMP was advised by Kevin Cunningham, corporate partner at the Sheffield office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell. "This is another chapter in the AES success story," he said. "Absolute Vacuum is a complementary business for AESPUMP and the acquisition will enable it to further strengthen its position in the market and facilitate future growth."

Chris Rea, OBE, group managing director of AES, added: "This will provide additional facilities and expertise to the AESPUMP network, giving our customers exceptional levels of support."
