News: Empire state intention to make New York Stadium the place to be
Rotherham United has appointed leading stadium marketing company, Empire Stadiums as they prepare to move into the New York Stadium.
Construction work is on schedule on the development of the club's £20m stadium on a site close to the town centre, historically know as New York.
Empire will work with Rotherham's commercial team on corporate seating, match day promotion, sponsorship and naming rights for the 12,000 seated stadium.
The company has worked on the Telstra Dome in Australia and with Brighton on the AMEX stadium, Coventry on the Ricoh Arena and Doncaster Rovers on the Keepmoat Stadium.
The stadium team has taken space in the council's new civic offices, Riverside House which is adjacent to the stadium on the site of the former Guest & Chrimes foundry.
Ashley Donlan, managing director of Empire Stadiums, said: "We are proud to be working with Rotherham United. It is rare to find a family owned club in football and we are privileged to be a part of the Millers family.
"Our aim is to make the New York Stadium the place to be on a Saturday afternoon – from families to local business. This stadium will be a special place for a special town and we want everyone in Rotherham to have the opportunity to be a part of this.”
Empire recently held a recruitment day for various sales and marketing roles at the New York stadium, which attracted more than 150 local people.
Tony Stewart, Rotherham United chairman, said: "Empire Stadiums is the market leader and has worked with some of the top sporting clubs across the UK so we are delighted to have them on board as part of the Rotherham United family.
"Our vision is that not only will the New York Stadium be a great Arena to play football in but it will also be a superb facility and unique landmark within the town centre and Empire can help us to achieve this success."
Councillor Roger Stone, leader of Rotherham Council, added: "This is another great step forward for the stadium and for the regeneration of the town with such an internationally renowned business coming to Rotherham. Empire Stadiums' support for the Millers will help to generate many exciting opportunities for other businesses and the local community to get involved in the New York Stadium."
