News: VAR launches business support service
Voluntary Action Rotherham (VAR) has launched a new social enterprise to help support businesses and groups to survive, grow and succeed.
VAR is the lead body for supporting, developing and promoting the voluntary and community sector in the Rotherham.
Spectrum Futures is a new community interest company owned by VAR which builds on their successful role in the Rotherham Enterprise project which was part funded by European Regional Development Fund.
Alan Murphy at Spectrum Futures, said: "This work will build upon the success that the social enterprise team had in registering 34 new social enterprise business in the last three years and we look forward to supporting all our clients in future.
"We want to work with you and your business to unlock your potential, share experiences and enable you to achieve sustainability and success.
"A business is not just about a good idea, but also the person behind it, so our aim is to develop both in a friendly and professional way."
Spectrum Futures is also currently running a training project to develop the business and enterprise skills of unemployed people in Rotherham. This project offers free training and is funded by The Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT). It is intended to increase prospects, both employment and personal, for those who live in an area of high unemployment.
