News: Solaglas rebrand as Glassolutions

Solaglas, the French-owned multinational company with a major base in Rotherham, has rebranded as Glassolutions and confirmed a £100m investment programme.

The change from Solaglas to Glasssolutions reflects the company's role as a solutions provider in glass to the glazing, architectural, construction and building maintenance markets in the UK and more closely aligns it with other glass-based organisations within the Saint-Gobain Group.

The group has also confirmed a £100m investment programme which comes as the company launched a range of innovative glass solutions at Ecobuild 2012.

Last year, the company brought together three separate operating divisions to form Solaglas Installation in new 65,000 sq ft premises at Manvers in Rotherham. The division specialises in the installation and maintenance of all glass products and emergency glazing for the construction, property maintenance and insurance markets.

The move from Hellaby was prompted by sustained business growth and saw them locate to a lighter and larger factory with additional site space.

Now called Glassolutions Installation, the division provides an end-to-end service for individual projects and major contracts ranging from £50 to £10m.

During last year's riots, the firm took on the equivalent of two weeks worth of new instructions in a 48 hour period and during stormy weather over the New Year they received three weeks' worth of calls in the space of just six days.

Darren Dickinson, service director at Glassolutions Installation, said: "Last August's riots in London, Birmingham and Manchester put our response capabilities to the test and the industry awards we've received for that work is a testament to how well we can maintain excellent service levels during particularly busy periods.

"The stormy weather events brought another massive surge in customer calls and we're once again delighted with how well we've been able to adapt, respond and consistently deliver great service.

"To put recent events into perspective, on January 3 2012 we had the second highest number of instructions on a single day in the history of the Glasssolutions call centre - only a day in January 2007 received more instructions and this was when the UK was hit by one of the most severe storms in 50 years."
