News: Lewis leaves Rotherham United

By

Head of commercial Steve Lewis has left Rotherham United by mutual consent.

Lewis took over the department from previous commercial director, Steve Coakley in November having previously worked in similar roles at Leeds United and Sheffield United.

Steve started his career at Leeds United spending almost 11 years with the West Yorkshire club, as sponsorship manager before graduating to the position of head of commercial. He worked for tourism organisation, Welcome to Yorkshire as head of sponsorship before returning to football as head of commercial at Sheffield United.

During his time at The Millers, the club announced that the new £20m stadium will be called the New York Stadium and announced stadium sponsorship deals with Eric Twigg Foods, Ben Bennett Jnr and Morrison.

The club also appointed leading stadium marketing company, Empire Stadiums to work with Rotherham's commercial team on corporate seating, match day promotion, sponsorship and naming rights for the 12,000 seated stadium.

The stadium is nearing completion in time for the 2012/2013 season.

In a statement on their official website, Rotherham United said: "The club would like to place on record our thanks to Steve for his hard work and commitment whilst with the club, where over the last several months he has played a key role in the development of our new stadium.

"Rotherham United would like to wish Steve well for the future."
