News: Beatson Clark delivers in an instant
Rotherham glass manufacturer Beatson Clark has provided a new lightweight jar for Little's range of flavoured instant coffees.
The family-run Devon-based speciality coffee roaster had been experiencing difficulties with its European supplier and was looking for a UK manufacturer to provide glass containers for its instant coffees.
Little's were working closely with independent packaging specialist Rawlings to guide them through the jar manufacturing process and Beatson Clark was able to provide the premium solution. It was a bespoke, high-quality, low-cost product which appealed to Little's in part because it was lighter than the jar they had previously used.
Will Little of Little's, said: "Our main focus was consistent supply.
"We wanted to use a UK manufacturer and we were really impressed with both how competitive the price was and the quality of the product. Our coffees are at the premium end of the market and the quality of the packaging is very important to us.
"We really liked the lightweight option for our jar too, and the cost and environmental benefits that this brings."
Lightweighting reduces the use of raw materials as well as both manufacturing and transport costs, protecting the environment and conserving valuable resources.
Beatson Clark has also welcomed another new recruit with Steve Nussey joining the Greasborough Road company as a designer.
Steve will replace Dave Ashworth, who will retire in August after 48 years with Beatson Clark. Steve said: "I'm looking forward to working with the production team and helping Beatson Clark to maintain its position as a leading niche supplier in the glass market.
"I'm learning a lot from Dave Ashworth and Design Engineer Dean Arey but I'm also looking to bring the experience I've gained over the last 28 years to help move the business forward."
