News: Everything is sweet for Molly's Mixtures
Two friends from Rotherham have created an enterprise that is selling childhood memories and tastes to customers throughout the world.
Olivia Finlay and Adele White set up online sweet shop, Molly's Mixtures from home in 2010, after the closure of Woolworths stores – at the time the UK's largest pick and mix providers.
Molly's Mixtures offer over 900 types of sweets; many being the old-fashioned pick ‘n’ mix varieties which people remember from their childhood. Their range includes such favourites as pear drops, cola bottles and liquorice twists.
Such has been the success of the business that they have now outgrown the kitchen table at home and now trade from a unit at Rotherham Investment & Development Office's (RiDO) Fusion @ Magna business centre in Templeborough.
Their customers are now global and they dispatch over 200 parcels per day to locations in the UK and as far afield as Europe, the USA, Brazil and China.
Support from RiDO, both in terms of business advice and the Fusion business centre has been invaluable to the company, as Adele and Olivia explain: "Working with RiDO has allowed Molly's to expand at a rate which is both exciting and sustainable. At the same time working alongside the business advisors within the network has also provided us with valuable expertise which any new business requires."
Amanda Parris, manager of RiDO's Business Centres added: "It is really good to see the success that Adele and Olivia are having. Their business concept is so simple but they have clearly found a gap in the market. We’re glad to be able to help both in terms of providing the business advice and the space for their expanding business."
