News: City Region to showcase world class engineering capability

By

Representatives from the Sheffield City Region will be at Advanced Engineering UK this week to showcase the city region's world class opportunities in aerospace, composites and advanced manufacturing.

Held over two days at the NEC in Birmingham, the Advanced Engineering UK group of events continues to bring together manufacturers and top tier customer groups to meet and do business with their supply chains and partners across some of the UK's highest-growth advanced engineering sectors.

Representatives from the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), will be attending and its Inward Investment team has planned a series of meetings with businesses to discuss investment opportunities in the City Region, and will network with members of the UK's aerospace design, build, test, maintenance and supply chain engineering industries.

David Grey MBE, board member of the LEP and Chief Executive of Sheffield-based manufacturing group OSL Group Holdings Ltd, said: "The aero engineering sector and supply chain capabilities in Sheffield City Region are world class, feeding into global brands like Boeing and Rolls Royce.

"Representing the LEP at this event is essential to ensure that we maximise our business opportunities in the UK, the second largest aerospace engineering market.

"I encourage attendees to visit us at the stand and find out more about the impressive incentives the City Region can offer."

The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) with Boeing will also be attending to discuss the ground breaking work that it carries out at its state of the art facilities on the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham.

This includes projects to help companies such as Rolls-Royce to cut the time and cost of production for complex components and investigating natural materials for lightweight composite materials to reduce the environmental cost of manufacturing.

Rotherham-based companies AESSEAL, Nikken Kosakusho Europe Ltd, Performance Engineered Solutions (PES) Ltd and Fripp Design & Research will also be in attendance.
