News: Assured scores Premier League contract

Fast-growing Dinnington firm, Assured Fire & Security, has secured a contract with Premier League football club, Norwich City, to ensure the safety of supporters at the club's 27,000-seater Carrow Road stadium.


It is compulsory for modern sports stadia to comply with a strict set of safety regulations in order to guarantee the welfare of all those using them.

Assured meet with Norwich City's safety and security manager to discuss how they could help. Andy the safety manager said: "The safety and comfort of our supporters and staff are of top priority to Norwich City and it is vital that our fire safety systems meet the highest standards available. Our existing systems were outdated and sub-par in this respect, and it was clear upon the meeting that Assured Fire & Security were the company that we wanted to update them."

Assured designed a bespoke system that was installed just two weeks later. It includes a fully networkable, state of the art addressable fire alarm system, and an on-going maintenance contract was agreed for the system.

News: Charity’s Assured approach to resident safety

Rotherham-based Assured Fire and Security has been awarded a extended contract with a national charity providing housing solutions for people with disabilities.

The Dinnington fire and security specialist will be providing a full range of fire safety systems at 450 Golden Lane Housing sites throughout the country.

The contract is worth £100,000 per year over the next three/five years for Assured.

Established by Mencap in 1998, Golden Lane Housing was formed to provide quality housing and to support people to make choices about where, how and with whom they wish to live their lives.

Since inception, Golden Lane Housing has invested more than £60m transforming the lives of more than 1,000 people by providing them with suitable supported living accommodation throughout England and Wales.

News: Envelope Master rest assured with new contract

Envelope Master has called on the expertise of fellow Rotherham company, Assured Fire and Security in the wake of a devastating fire that destroyed the company's factory earlier this year.

At its height, around 60 firefighters, ten fire appliances, two aerial ladder platforms, and supporting vehicles were at the January fire at the Envelope Master site in Aldwarke.

The padded envelope and bubble wrap specialist was quickly back in business, though, and has now called in award winning Dinnington company Assured Fire and Security to install a new fire and security system.

The £6,000 contract includes full fire alarm system installation as well as system monitoring and maintenance.

News: Assured awarded Jaguar Land Rover contract

Fast-growing Assured Fire and Security has been awarded a major new maintenance contract with Jaguar Land Rover.

The award winning Rotherham fire and security specialist will be providing CCTV maintenance at all three main Midlands Jaguar Land Rover sites in Whitley, Leamington and Gaydon.

The new global headquarters at Whitley, near Coventry, includes 155 acres of engineering space and is home to approximately 2,000 employees.

The company's Gaydon site hosts high-technology design and engineering facilities and is home to 3,000 employees.

Leamington hosts an academy where both technical and commercial training for the Jaguar and Land Rover UK dealer networks takes place.

News: New faces for Assured as national expansion continues

Rotherham-based Assured Fire and Security has made further appointments as they continue with their long-term plan that aims to make the company the UK's biggest and best independent national fire and security company.

The new national account consultant, John Stephens comes to the Dinnington company with a strong background in sales.

He will be specifically looking after clients with multiple sites nationwide and building lasting relationships with potential new customers.

He will also be developing the company's database as Assured continues its ambitious programme of national development.

Tara Matthewman, HR manager at Assured, said: "For both Stephen and the company this is an exciting new post.

Anne Carter, who lives in Holmfirth, joins the award winning Dinnington firm after gaining almost two decades of experience working with companies protecting both properties and people.

News: Assured secures massive African contract

Rotherham-based Assured Fire and Security has been awarded an African contract worth £1.9m.

The contract with sugar production company Kenana, of Sudan, follows recent international contracts in Ghana, Nigeria and Afghanistan.

The deal will help the Dinnington based specialist fire safety company to move ahead with its five-year plan for expansion and acquisition.

The massive sugar refinery close to Khartoum has the capacity to produce over 400,000 metric tonnes of sugar per annum and the company has also diversified into bio-ethanol.

The Assured team will supervise the installation of more than 90 fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, hose reels and fire alarm systems at the plant as well as providing a complete package of fire training for Kenana staff.

In addition to the main factory site, Assured is also providing full safety and security services at the Kenana head offices.

Assured was initially approached after Kenana experienced a major control room fire in the winter of 2008, causing $100m worth of damage and halting production.

Competing with major international companies from India, China and Italy, Assured was eventually selected to provide a complete solution for all Kenana’s fire safety issues.

News: New contracts for Assured

Rotherham firm, Assured Fire and Security, has secured three new contracts as they continue to grow.

The Dinnington firm, has completed a £28,000 contract to provide a new fire suppression system to protect Sheffield Hallam University's laboratory fume cupboards.

At the same time Assured technicians have also installed a new £16,500 fire suppression system and extended the fire alarm service at the Barton-Upon-Humber premises of Cemex, the global building solutions company and leading supplier of cement, ready-mixed concrete and aggregates in the UK.

And in Hartlepool, the Assured team has been working on a new £10,000 fire suppression system to protect the canteen facilities at EDF Energy.

Fast-growing Rotherham firm, Assured Fire and Security, has appointed its first HR manager as the company concentrates on its plan for further expansion throughout 2012.

In 2010, the Dinnington firm set out a long-term plan that aims to make the company the UK's biggest and best independent national fire and security company within the next five years.

Tara Matthewman, who is 24 and lives in Brinsworth, has eight years experience, primarily in retail HR. She said: "This is quite a change of direction for me in terms of the sort of industry I've been used to working in but Assured is a company with a very clear and focused idea of where it is going over the next five years and I am delighted to be able to join them and contribute to that journey."

Simon Stokes, managing director at Assured, added: "This is a significant new position within the company and a vital one at a time when the team is expanding so much and Tara will be taking a leading role in the development of the Assured values and culture."

Tara's appointment is one of several important new positions within the company.

Managing director Simon Stokes discussed his plans for the next stage in the company's expansion at their Rotherham headquarters.

And leading South Yorkshire business consultant Andy Hanselman helped to explain to the team how creating a great culture through operating in line with the company values and providing excellent customer service will help the vision become a reality.

News: Assured awarded new Nigerian contract

Rotherham-based Assured Fire and Security is strengthening its international business links with a second contract in the African country of Nigeria.

The Dinnington specialist has been awarded a £30,000 contract for fire alarm and suppression systems and a full fire extinguisher service at a new power station site being developed the city of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State in southwest Nigeria.

This follows the contract awarded to Assured at the end of 2009 to provide fire suppression systems at a similar gas-fired power station in the city of Otta.

That contract also saw Assured technicians providing fire extinguishers and training on fire safety for power station staff and improving fire safety measures at gas filling stations in the region.

Simon Stokes, managing director at Assured, said: "Africa is an increasingly important market for growth globally and we are delighted that we have been given this second contract in Nigeria.

"Sustaining and developing our international links is vitally important to Assured as we continue our programme of expansion."

The Dinnington company this week received the finance that will enable continued growth and expansion in line with its five-year business plan.

The loan will assist the company to increase turn over in the next five years to £15m; five times that which it reported last year. Equally importantly, it will help the company to quadruple its workforce to almost 200 once the nationwide expansion is complete.

We are an ambitious company and aim to become one of the largest independent fire and security companies in the country in the next five years.

Rotherham-based Assured Fire and Security has secured further local contracts to provide full fire and safety services.

The Dinnington company has been awarded a £65,000 contract by Sheffield firm, Ask4 Business, to provide a full system, including CCTV, fire and intruder alarms, fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems at their new data centre.

Ask4, which was launched in Sheffield 11 years ago, is now the UK’s leading independent supplier of broadband Internet services to multiple tenanted residential developments.

Matt Spivey, operations director at Assured, said: "This is a very important contract for us because it not only strengthens our local client base, which is expanding all the time, but also adds another Datacentre to our portfolio.

News: Assured secure Lafarge contract

Rotherham-based Assured Fire and Security has cemented its place as one of the country's leading fire and security specialists by securing a contract with Lafarge.

Lafarge is the world's largest cement manufacturer and a major player in the UK construction sector. Their cement works in the Hope Valley will be secured under a new maintenance contract with Assured. The Derbyshire factory is one of Lafarge's largest works, with capacity to make up to 1.3 million tonnes of cement a year.

The Dinnington firm is continuing to grow. In November, they launched a five-year plan that aims to transform the company into the country's leading fire and security specialist, expanding the workforce from 45 to around 200.

News: Apprentices join expanding Assured team

Rotherham-based Assured Fire and Security is continuing its expansion with the launch of a new apprenticeship scheme.

The Dinnington-based fire and security specialist has appointed two new members of staff under its apprenticeship project, with plans for more to follow.


Lee Butler, who is 19 and lives in Doncaster, is working as an installations coordinator at the same time as studying for an NVQ while 16-year-old Ethne Sheldon is combining her studies with work in the administration department.

Matthew Spivey, operations director at Assured said: "As a developing company we always needed people with established skills and knowledge in the past.

"Now we have a strong team, we feel it is the ideal time to encourage people to develop new talents.

"Apprentices also free up the time of the more experienced team members to concentrate on other projects.

"Lee and Ethne have been such a success that we are already looking at appointing a third apprentice for our finance department."

In November, Assured launched a five-year plan that aims to transform the company into the country's leading fire and security specialist, expanding the workforce from 45 to around 200.

The company is continuing to strengthen its head office team with two further appointments.

News: Rotherham companies support St Luke's

Assured Fire and Security, the Rotherham based fire and security specialist, has been awarded the contract to maintain fire alarms, emergency lighting, access control and intruder alarm systems at St Luke's Hospice in Sheffield.

The Hospice is in its 40th anniversary year and cares for people aged 18 and above throughout Sheffield who have incurable illnesses. The centre at Whirlow provides care for 400 patients in any one year.

The Dinnington firm has been awarded a major maintenance contract with national car park company Q Park work on maintaining security systems for sites across the country, including the iconic "Cheese Grater" in Charles Street, Sheffield.

After signing a major contract with the retailer last year, Assure will be working on the new Yeomans store, which is due to open soon in Worksop.

A third contract win will see Assured installing a state-of-the-art fire alarm system at the new Rotherham headquarters of the Empire Tapes in Manvers.

Empire Tapes are manufacturers, rewinders and convertors of adhesive tape.

Stokes added: "We are now providing fire and security services for companies throughout Britain but we are always delighted to be able to strengthen our business links within the South Yorkshire region and we are particularly pleased to be working with Empire Tapes on their new site."
