News: Connect with Rotherham gazelles

By

Connect Gazelles, the unique group providing ambitious entrepreneurs with top level mentoring from Yorkshire's leading entrepreneurs, is calling on two more Rotherham entrepreneurs to share their experiences.

A free to attend event called "Starting Out, Stepping Out, Selling Out" takes place in Sheffield on March 14. The panel includes Mike Maddock of Rotherham-based Performance Engineered Solutions, Simon Stokes of Rotherham-based Assured Fire and Security plus Mike Blundell, the founder of Sheffield's Blundells Estate Agency.

Performance Engineered Solutions (PES) Ltd, based on the Advanced Manufacturing Park, grew out Bromley Technologies Ltd and specialises in enhancing the performance of components, products and systems by delivering integrated engineering thinking alongside innovative design, materials, manufacturing and testing technologies.

They have worked on a wide range of projects featuring aerospace components, the aerodynamic and composite design for a new Moto2 racing bike, composite parts for a super lightweight, high performance road car, R&D projects in the automotive tyre sector, and the management of a major international engineering project.

In 2010, Dinnington-based Assured Fire and Security set out a long-term plan that aims to make the company the UK's biggest and best independent national fire and security company within the next five years.

At the heart of the expansion will be a series of nationwide acquisitions that will place Assured firmly at the heart of the fire and security industry.

And at the same time, the company will continue to develop its expanding network of contracts both nationally and internationally.

Previous events have heard from Chris Rea OBE, founder and managing director Rotherham-based AESSEAL, and Julie Kenny CBE DL, chairman and founding member of Rotherham-based, Pyronix.

News: Connect Gazelles in Rotherham

By

Connect Gazelles, a unique group that provides ambitious entrepreneurs with top level mentoring from Yorkshire's leading entrepreneurs, is hosting another event in Rotherham later this month.

"Gazelles" are private sector businesses who are growing rapidly - they can be from any sector.

As the level of business support provided by the public sector is dramatically reduced, the new group offers members access to expertise, access to other local entrepreneurs and a free strategic review of their current business situation.

The next event will hear from Julie Kenny CBE DL, chairman of successful Rotherham business, Pyronix Ltd.

The security equipment manufacturer celebrated their 25th anniversary last year and the Hellaby based business has grown to become a world leader in the manufacture and development of security equipment, with an emphasis on evolving their product range to meet ever changing consumer demands.

Julie will share her vision for building a winning team and a winning business and discuss aspects of attracting the best talent, motivation and effective management.

Julie is also the chair of the British Security Industry Association and commissioner with the UK Commission of Employment and Skills. She was the last Chair of Yorkshire Forward and was appointed by Government as one of three commissioners to oversee improvements of governance at Doncaster Council. She will soon take over as High Sheriff of South Yorkshire.

The event takes place at the AMP Technology Centre on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham on January 31.

As the level of business support provided by the public sector is dramatically reduced, the new group offers members access to expertise, access to other local entrepreneurs and a free strategic review of their current business situation.

Nick Butler, chief executive at Connect Yorkshire, said: "Running a business can be a lonely place and a wrong turn can delay growth by years. Connect Gazelles provides exclusive access to Yorkshire's and the UK's leading entrepreneurs to take advantage of their considerable expertise and experience plus a support group of like-minded individuals.

"It's an inside track for companies to build on their success and prosper."

The next monthly event is on November 23 at award-winning Rotherham company, AESSEAL. Chris Rea OBE, founder and managing director, is one of the region's leading entrepreneurs who has committed to the Gazelles initiative and will become one of the Entrepreneurs in Residence.

AESSEAL specialise in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals, bearing protectors and environmental control systems. Last year was the 28th year of uninterrupted sales and profit growth and AESSEAL reached a landmark by passing the £100m mark for sales. The Templeborough firm also picked up their 12th Queen's Award for Enterprise.

The Connect Gazelles event provides Chris with an opportunity to introduce the next generation at AESSEAL who will tell their story, their plans, show off the business, and share their experiences and their vision for the future.
