News: Purex acquire Canadian firm

Purex International Ltd has announced that it has acquired the fume extraction and filtration business of PAT Technology Systems Inc of Montreal, Canada. Purex manufactures fume extraction equipment for hand and machine soldering applications in the electronics production industry. Purex also supply fume extractors for laser marking, engraving and welding processes across a wide variety of industries. The Manvers based company currently turns over approximately £7m a year and employs 45 people in the UK and 4 people in Chicago, USA. The acquired company, PAT Technology Systems Inc, is a highly renowned designer and manufacturer of fume extraction systems for the wide format inkjet printing industry. Their latest development, the innovative Captivair system, is designed to remove all of the odours created by wide format inkjet printing equipment. Paul Priestley, Managing Director of Purex said: "This is an extremely exciting opportunity for Purex to enter into a new market space and at the same time provide greater presence and support for our existing customers. The philosophies and cultures of the two businesses are so similar that I expect great synergies from this acquisition."

News: More jobs at Rotherham contact centre

Contact centre company Telecom Service Centres is planning to create more jobs and expand its Rotherham operation in the Dearne Valley. On announcing that the company boosted profits from £3 million to £5.1 million in the latest financial results, Cheif Executive, Ken Hills is quoted in the Star "Our Dearne Valley operation has again performed very well throughout last year and we look forward to expanding the business there this year and recruiting more staff." TSC, which merged with Indian rival Hero Group last year, is now embarking on a worldwide search for new customers to join a blue chip client list that includes Vodafone, T-Mobile, HSBC and Hewlett Packard.

News: Capgemini secures IT outsourcing deal

Workplace assessment and psychometric testing group SHL has signed a six-year IT outsourcing deal worth £23m with Capgemini UK. The deal involves utilising Capgemini's secure data centre in Bristol. User and technical support will be moved to Capgemini’s service centres in Katowice, Poland and Mumbai, India respectively, with back-up support from Rotherham in Yorkshire. Capgemini secured the deal by creating the best mix of resources from their global network of facilities.
