News: Arrow points to success through exports

By

Arrow Technical, an electronic product design consultancy based on the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham, is expanding into Europe.

Arrow is a design consultancy for the electronics sector whose services include concept development, product design, prototyping and project management. Some of Arrow's products have included infrared thermal inspection systems, water saving products, central heating system controllers and MP3 players.

Arrow was established in Sheffield in 1995 and began producing customised electronic controllers for aerospace applications. In 2009, the company moved from the Advanced Manufacturing Park Technology Centre into the Evolution development on the AMP.

The company's main business is to design and manufacture electronic products on behalf of other businesses, but Arrow Technical is planning to develop its own range of energy saving products to sell both in the UK and overseas.

Managing director Chris Worrall is no stranger to doing business internationally, with high profile clients worldwide, but sought assistance in bringing new product ranges to market as efficiently as possible. Over the past few months, Julia Millea from RiDO's ERDF funded Soft Landing Zone has worked with Arrow Technical to research the market European and international markets to enable Arrow Technical to target its new products most effectively.

Julia has also assisted in developing the company's communications strategy in conjunction with UKTI, a major part of which is the recommendations for subtle changes to the company's website. These improvements will increase Arrow's international visibility, accessibility and search engine optimisation in foreign markets prior to its international product launches.

Chris Worrall, managing director of Arrow Technical (pictured, third right), said: "We are looking to expand internationally and with the support of RiDO and UKTI, we are confident we will be able to do this. Following the research and advice around communications, we are very clear about which international markets to target and have increased confidence in our approach. We expect our new range of energy saving technologies to have a major impact on our business."

Julia Millea, business development co-ordinator at RiDO, said: "We are delighted to be helping Arrow Technical with their ambitious export plans. There are tremendous opportunities for them to sell their products on an international basis. We are looking forward to working with Chris and the team over the coming months to support their continued business growth."

The Soft Landing Zone project attracted investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and helps existing businesses to grow in global markets. It also sees potential investor companies from overseas offered a comprehensive array of services here in Rotherham.
