News: Winning design chosen for Parkway Iconic Bridge

The design for a new footbridge crossing the Parkway on the border between Rotherham and Sheffield has been chosen following a design competition that produced entries from 14 different countries. Winning designer, Tim Norlund, a young architect from Denmark, based his bridge on a simple ring design. Work to build the £2 million bridge will begin this autumn, and the new landmark should be completed by summer 2009. It will be built jointly by Sheffield and Rotherham Councils and will be funded by Yorkshire Forward.
