News: Rotherham quarry operation to continue

By

Owners of a South Yorkshire quarry are seeking permission to continue operations for another 10 years. Lafarge Aggregates, owners of the Harrycroft quarry at Lindrick Dale, South Anston in Rotherham, were due to cease operations by this year - with restoration of the site completed by 2016. But Rotherham Council is expected to agree that quarrying can continue after being told that 3 million of tonnes of limestone still remain. Harrycroft is the only aggregate quarry in Rotherham and operations have been going on since the early 60s.
