Ashley Smith, owner of Cartridge World, Wickersley Road, Rotherham, has been named Cartridge World Franchisee of the Year. The award was given to the Rotherham franchise following an exceptionally successful year, during which the business grew by more than 10 per cent. Mr Smith was also commended for his work on a number of Cartridge World steering groups, and his support and training of other franchisees. The company, which has opened 1400 stores in 45 countries since 1997 won the "Best International Franchise Expansion Programme" at the Franchise Marketing Awards 2007. Franchising in Yorkshire generated £1bn in turnover in 2007, according to new research by Natwest/British Franchise Association.
