Opened in April, Kiveton Park and Wales Village Hall, is believed to be the greenest and most eco-friendly new village hall in the UK. Matt Brown, senior contracts manager of Halfway construction company Hillside, who built the hall designed by Burnell Briercliffe Architects, told The Star: "The technological systems we have built into the hall mean that it will not only save money on heating, light and water, it will generate income that can be used to provide more services for the community. We honestly believe there is no other village hall with such complete advanced environmental concepts anywhere else in the UK." The £1.2m community hall includes rainwater harvesting systems, solar panels, and heat pumps, to make the building almost self-sufficient.
