News: Rotherham Council wins Regeneration award

By

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council was named Local Authority of the Year at the Yorkshire Business Insider's Property Industry Awards last week, beating tough competition from three other shortlisted councils in the region, Creative Sheffield, Leeds City Council and Hull Forward. Judges praised the council’s “well-balanced” attitude towards development and regeneration, and its holistic vision for the borough’s transformation. Tim O’Connell, business development manager at Rotherham Investment & Development Office, the council’s regeneration arm, said: “Rotherham is increasingly proving itself to be pioneering in its approach to regeneration – and the energy and passion that drives the transformation comes from the good people who are working towards that common goal. “Rotherham is going through an enormous period of change, with the Renaissance programme set to transform the town centre just as the transformation of the old industrial areas has been successful in attracting new businesses. “There’s still a long way to go. That’s what makes winning this accolade all the more impressive – and shows how highly-regarded our efforts and approach to change are.”
