News: Good reaction to Rotherham allergy event

Laboratorytalk report on the successful event hosted at the ALcontrol Laboratories in Rotherham which saw ALcontrol professionals and guest speakers present an allergy seminar to over 50 delegates from the food industry. David Waller, sales director, ALcontrol Laboratories, told Laboratorytalk: "We're all really pleased to see such great interest in the seminar from within the food industry, something which shows just how important and current the allergen topic is at the moment. "It has also provided a good opportunity for people to take a look at the labs at Rotherham and get a better understanding of the services ALcontrol offers." With allergic reactions and food intolerance on the increase and the introduction of recent legislation, this area of testing is growing rapidly and it is set to continue. Manufacturers are now required to declare the presence of any one of 14 allergens in their products and the market for food free from these is expanding. In the UK, ALcontrol has a turnover of £31 million and tests approximately 2 million samples per year.
