News: Rotherham manufacturers beating gloom

By

The Yorkshire Post reports on the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) which showed that industrial production fell 0.8 per cent between April and May, well beyond analysts' expectations of a 0.1 percent decline. The article includes quotes from Sheffield's Master Cutler Gordon Bridge explaining that South Yorkshire manufacturing was showing no signs of a slowdown. The chief executive of Rotherham engineering specialist AESSEAL told the paper: "The overview from manufacturing is very positive across South Yorkshire. If we are not careful we can talk ourselves into a recession. If you are on the edge of a cliff and somebody pushes, you will fall off. "At AES sales are 17 per cent higher than last year. That's common around South Yorkshire manufacturers. No doubt there will be pockets that are not doing so well but July has started with record output." AESSEAL designs & manufactures mechanical seals and engineered sealing systems and was recently named in The Star's Top 30 rapidly growing companies. With its global headquarters in Rotherham, AESSEAL highlights the pool of labour with a great work ethic, excellent Universities, the environment, skills organisations and the local council as reasons that make South Yorkshire an attractive base for high growth businesses.
