News: Retailer selects Rotherham for flagship store

By

The latest Update from Town Centre Management reports on the plans for the reopening of the former Marks & Spencer store on College Street. A regional homeware retailer is taking over the unit and plans to occupy both floors, making Rotherham one of its flagship stores. Town centre manager Julie Roberts said: "The unit bears real significance in the town centre due to its size and former occupants, and after a lengthy period of vacancy, its reopening will really make a difference to College Street and the town centre as a whole." Plans are being made for an Autumn opening and more details on the occupiers and dates should be confirmed soon. The news provides a confidence boost to the town and is a sign that Rotherham has potential as a shopping destination. The former Going Places travel agents and YMCA shop on Bridgegate are also set for new occupiers in the coming months.
