News: Rate relief for Rotherham businesses

Rotherham Council are reminding small businesses that they can claim rate relief on their non-domestic rates bill. The incentive is available to businesses operating from one main premises with a rateable value of up to £15,000pa. Those with a rateable value of £5,000 can claim a 50% reduction with a sliding scale of reductions going up to £9,999. For businesses with a rateable value between £10,000 to £15,000, reduced rates are calculated using a small business multiplier. Town centre manager Julie Roberts said: "It's important that businesses are aware of the rate relief potentially available to them. It is estimated that there are 450 premises in the town centre that could benefit." Applications for 2007-2008 must be submitted by September 30.
